Clarence. Guard duck. Taking his duties seriously.

Update: November 18, 2021
It’s been a while! Here’s a recent video of the ducks enjoying the water-filled holes. Rupert (Roo), as usual, photo-bombs the video!

Update: September 18, 2019

A couple pictures of the ducks and chickens, being, well, ducks and chickens.

A quick slideshow of the ducklings from week 1 – 3. The ducklings are Saxony/Applecross. More entertaining that Netflix and You Tube!

Update: April 7, 2019

A friend is incubating Saxony duck eggs. I’ve got my sights set on a couple. Saxony ducks look like these in the photo below. The female is a lovely colour and the drake has a handsome grey neck.

Update: April 5, 2019

I’m hopeful the chicken tractor will be completed by the end of April or first week of May. Though, I love the Chicken stagecoach design, (see below), I’ve decided to come up with my own small flock chicken tractor design. Stay tuned!

First, the chicken tractor, then the chickens.

I hope to build the tractor in March/April and add a small flock of four birds after that.

This is the design I’ll use:

Chicken stagecoach

Here on the West Coast, raccoons, mink, otter, and yes, ravens, are all predators. The coop must be secure.
